Peek at the Week

Reader’s Workshop

Since it is the last week of the quarter, the readers of fifth grade will be busy finishing up work. Every student should have his or her book recommendation complete. Additionally, students will be working with guided reading groups. Reader’s response questions will focus on making different connections whether it is text-to-text, text-to-self, or text-to world. During guided reading, students will also share what they have read with their group members.

Writer’s Workshop

On Friday, every fifth grader will have turned in his or her narrative. These narratives will be graded on the idea, lead, ending, and conventions. The fifth graders have quite a talent for capturing small moments that have happened to them. This week’s mini-lessons focus on language and punctuation.

Social Studies

Last week, the fifth graders started making their own Bill of Rights book. In this book, every fifth grader will be writing each of the first ten amendments and illustrating each of them.

End of the Quarter

Because Thursday is the last day of the quarter, every fifth grader will be responsible for completing all of their work. Please e-mail me if you have any questions regarding missing work.
