Peek at the Week

Week of January 28th-31st

 

Math: Build fractions from unit fractions.  

Unit 5 begins with introducing the students to unit fractions.  From there, they will add fractions with like denominators in word problems.  They will also learn strategies to add mixed numbers.

 

Reading: Determine the main idea of text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text.  

The Fourth Grade Wax Museum will be on Thursday, January 31st at 9AM in the cafeteria.  All students should come to school in their costume and with their prop. Throughout the week, the fourth graders will be writing and practicing their monologues in class.  In their monologues they will include information about their early life, their adult life, and what they are most famous for during the course of their life. All are invited to attend the Fourth Grade Wax Museum.  

 

Writing: Conduct short research projects that build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.  

Research final drafts will be due on Thursday. The students received a rubric stating the requirements about how the final draft will be graded.  They will be graded on their introduction, three body paragraphs, and conclusion.
