Peek at the Week

Week of  October 22nd-26th


Writing: Write informative/ explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.  

The writers will be editing their explanatory final drafts this week.  Mini-lessons will focus on using tools to spell words correctly, correct capitalization, and appropriately using punctuation.  


Reading: Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text; summarize the text.  

The fourth grade readers will be summarizing text.  They know that a good summary includes the who, what, where, why, and when of the text written in approximately three-five sentences.  


Math: Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.  

We will continue use multiplication this week.  First, the fourth graders will convert units of time to smaller units of time.  Then, the students will use multiplication to solve word problems that use comparison.  Finally, we will end the week with classifying triangles.
