Peek at the Week

Week of March 27th-March 31st

The PARCC Test

The fourth graders will begin the PARCC Standardized Test on Monday, March 27th.  The testing will continue everyday through Tuesday, April 4th.  We will test each morning starting promptly at 9AM.  Please make sure that your child is at school on time every day.

Reading: Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.

This week the fourth grader will edit and revise the information they collected about their real life mystery, and use their rubric to begin to create their mystery poster.

Math: Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.

As we continue working through our division unit, the fourth grader will explore different ways to express and interpret remainders. Then, the fourth grader will make an angle measurer and use it to measure angles. After that, the fourth grader will measure angles with a half-circle protractor. Finally, the fourth grader will use what they learned to add and subtract to find unknown angle measures.

Writing: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

This week we will begin our writing unit on poetry. The fourth graders will be introduced to poetry, and become familiar with this style of writing through examples and instruction.
