Yearbook Pre-order

Ray School 2011-2012 Yearbook

Throughout the fourth quarter, the sixth graders have been hard at work at composing a Ray School yearbook.  Their finished work will be sent to the publishers and be ready for publication in August.  Yearbooks will be available for purchase for $14.50.  The yearbook will have class pictures, an article on every class, and candid pictures.  If you are interested in purchasing a Ray School yearbook, please complete and return the bottom portion of this letter to the office along with your payment of $14.50.  Please make checks payable to Ray School.  If you have any specific questions, please email Jenny Wejman at You will be notified this summer of the specific yearbook distribution date.

Writer’s Workshop

Common Core Standard: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

The students will finish their yearbook articles and pages.  Students are encouraged to bring in a camera to take pictures of their topic for the yearbook. 

Social Studies

Common Core Standard: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions. 

The sixth graders will take the Chapter 9 Chapter Test (Room 512-Wednesday, Room 503-Thursday).  The test will have ten multiple choice questions, five vocabulary questions, two questions on predicting a historical outcome, the categorization of the culture of the Roman Empire, and an essay question.  The essay question is: During the time known as Pax Romana, or Roman Peace, the Roman Empire continued to grow.  Millions of people speaking different languages and following many customs lived there.  What helped unify the different people of the Roman Empire? Answers must be written in five complete sentences. 


Sixth Grade Dance

The dance will take place on Friday, June 8th from 2-3PM.  Students will not be able to change clothes for the dance.  Refreshments will be sold for $1 at the dance.
